Y mountain

as our time in this land of provo is coming to a close soon, we've created a "provo parting list" in order to discover and rediscover the utah valley a little better before we bid our adieux. one of the activities we wanted to cross off our list was a hike up BYU's "Y" mountain which ends at a big white, cement "Y" on the mountainside. we spotted the "Y" from afar as my mom and I drove into provo nearly 9 years ago before I began my first semester at BYU. I remember the feelings of being overwhelmed mixed with a rush of excitement at that moment. I could not have foreseen how important and beloved this place would become to me and my family.

the "Y" mountain trail is only 1.2 miles long but it is switch-backed, steep, and semi-intense (for us out-of-shape folk...), especially when you are hauling one baby on your back and one in your belly. however, at the end our efforts were rewarded with an expansive view of the valley and of all the places we've known and loved.

  1. How fun! I haven't climbed to the Y since I was a college student. Beautiful family, beautiful view!
