bryce canyon

we took a mini-vacation down to bryce canyon earlier this week. we were itching for a getaway and wanted to stay close by. thinking that southern utah would be a perfect destination, we booked a cheap hotel, loaded the car with gas, snacks, and our hiking clothes, got our sweet sister-in-law, mckenzie, to join us, and took off.
the weather on our first day was perfect for hiking: cloudy and cool outside.

^^ simon got a new backpack/leash friend to keep him close by, especially
since boy loves to run and there were many cliffs.

^^ this area of the park is called "queen's garden."
can you see the austere queen elizabeth in the rock?

on the second day, nice and sore from our hiking the day before, we took a four-hour tour to rainbow point and down the rim to many incredible view points. simon was a big hit with the older couples on our bus and his silly laugh charmed the ladies around us. it makes me happy to see that his baby innocence can bring joy to others.

^^ simon may not be sure how he feels about aunt kenzie holding him, but you should have heard them laughing together in the back seat of the car as we drove. that girl can make simon boy giggle so hard, and she even taught him a new word/sound that he loves: grroff!

^^ 'sploring
^^ jail is SO. MUCH. FUN.
