camera love //

there's a new camera on the block
and she's all mine! I have been pining for a
sweet dslr camera for about the last forever and
we finally have one. she's a canon t3i, and she's
a real beauty. now I am perfectly excited
all the photos we will take during our
soon-to-come european voyage.

and, seriously, the difference between my old 7.2 megapixel sony
cybershot and this 18 megapixel canon is downright silly. we'll
keep mr. sony around though because he's always been
a stalwart snapper. but, I have fallen in love with a new machine.

my favorite supportor
 my longest fans
dear mindy and harmony
ma céline!
 my fellow french student instructors!

the undergraduate years are {finally} over.
the graduation ceremonies were a joyous occasion
and a time that I was able to spend with my dear family.
I think about when I first came here {below} and
how I had no idea that so much good and happiness
was awaiting me.

dear wednesday

dear wednesday april 24th,

today is the day that I'm done. I've taken my last finals, completed my last papers and my undergraduate years are now a thing of the fond and happy past. it will be good to walk across the stage, across the marriott center wearing a big, shapeless, dark blue gown and that funny square hat and shake hands with important people and be done. it's taken more than 4 years to get here (there was a little two year break in there), but we made it. i made it.

our final night (of this season) at
the utah symphony.

we had seats on the third tier.
they made me a little dizzy being up
so high!

these are all pre-concert shots

conrad tao, eighteen year old piano GENIUS played tchaikovsky's
first piano concerto with the symphony and it was
the most amazing piano performance I have ever seen. I mean,
his fingers were breaking speed limits as he went up and down the ivories.
watch this video (not of tao, unfortunately) of a similar performance
of the piece and just try not to be impressed

(especially at times like 8:50 on the video).

reading days: concentration and curry

reading days before finals constitute a strange sort of
limbo between the end of school and final exams.
sort of the calm before the storm, you could say.

studying builds up hunger so we went out and met friends at indian
palace on one of our reading days. hello all-you-can-eat buffet lunch!

our placemats became a release of creative energy.

our walk home is dotted with blossoming trees.

(p.s. we have totally been glued to CNN all morning long and we
are saddened by what's happening in Boston. we pray

that all will be resolved and that healing can begin
soon for those affected by
the bombings. this sweet picture of
the little boy killed in the bombing hurts
my heart. "no more hurting people. peace. ")

throwback thursday: two little blondies

when times were carefree, training wheels
were a necessity, happy meals
meant everything, and mom
 chose out your clothes.

just reflecting on love and
how I've been given the chance
to love someone with all that I am.
I just feel lucky.

in the forest

laura sumrak and I headed out to the woods a few weeks
ago to capture a shot for her photography course.
the question behind the photo's theme was
"what scares you the most?"

laura said that what frightened her the most would
be losing all the people around her that she loves and being
left all alone.

"I get graduated"

phil and I went to a jazz concert tonight {BYU Synthesis blew us away!} and as we walked back to the car afterwards
it dawned on me: two weeks! yes, two weeks until this little lady
finally graduates! with that realization I turned to phil and said,
"phiiiil! I get graduated in two weeks!"

and, then we both promptly laughed at the irony
of that terribly formed sentence.
have I learned anything in college?
grammar, perhaps? well, clearly not enough to stick...

so, in an effort to erase my egregious grammar mistake,
let it be known that
" I WILL graduate in two weeks."

just hoping that all I've learned in these past few years
won't dissipate and end up on a shirt like this:
